Discover Liang Bua Hobbit Cave
We will start by picking you up at your hotel or a pre-arranged meeting point. From there, the journey continues to Liang Bua Cave, which takes approximately 40 minutes by car. Liang Bua Cave is the historic site where the ancient human species Homo floresiensis, popularly known as the “Hobbit Man,” was discovered. You will be guided through the cave, which is believed to have been a shelter for these short-statured humans in the past. Beyond delving into history, you will also be invited to enjoy the beautiful natural panorama surrounding the cave area.
Visit the Spiderweb Rice Fields
After exploring and observing the history of early human life, you will drive to Cancar. There, you will witness the stunning beauty of the local community’s rice fields shaped like a spiderweb. Beyond its scenic beauty, these fields, known locally as Lodok, represent a legacy of local wisdom and traditional land management from the Manggarai tribe in Flores.
Visit the Traditional Market of Ruteng
Your journey then continues to Ruteng. Here, you will visit the Ruteng Traditional Market (also known as Pasar Impres Ruteng), which is the largest traditional shopping center in Flores. This market provides various essential goods for the local community around Ruteng, ranging from vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, souvenirs, and many other items.
Visit Ruteng Pu’u Traditional Village
In the late afternoon, we will invite you to get acquainted with the local culture of the Manggarai Tribe in Flores by visiting the traditional village of Ruteng Pu’u. There, you will see the circular settlement pattern with unique, conical traditional houses. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to observe, interact, and learn about the life of the local community by taking a walk through their plantations.
